How the coloring tool works
Everything here is free and needs no account. Your colors are saved in this browser as you go.
Tools
- Fill: tap or click an area and it takes the chosen color. Lines are never painted over. Tap again with another color to change it, or with white to clear it.
- Brush: paint freely with the chosen color. In Full mode the slider sets the brush size.
- Eraser: rubs out brush strokes. It does not touch fills: clear those with white, or with Clear.
- Move: drag the picture around when you are zoomed in. It never paints.
Zoom
- Buttons: + and − in the corner of the picture; the percentage button shows the whole page again.
- Mouse and trackpad: roll the wheel over the picture, or pinch on the trackpad. On a phone or tablet, pinch with two fingers.
- Moving around: the Move tool, two fingers on a touch screen, or the middle mouse button.
Simple and Full
- Simple: twelve colors, big buttons, Fill, Brush and Eraser. The brush and the eraser stay inside the area where the stroke started, so nothing crosses a line. Made for the youngest.
- Full: the whole palette, brush size, the Move tool, Share, and a “Stay inside the lines” switch for the brush.
- The switch is at the top of the panel. Your choice is remembered on this device.
Undo, redo, clear
- Undo takes back the last fill or stroke; Redo brings it back. Up to forty steps.
- Clear starts the page over. It cannot be undone.
Saving, printing, sharing
- Saving: your progress is kept in this browser automatically. Open the same page again and it is still there; “Continue coloring” on the collection page takes you back to the last one.
- Download PNG saves the picture; Print prints it on one page.
- Share copies a link that carries your fills, so someone else opens the page with your colors. Brush strokes are not part of the link.
If something looks off
- A tap fills more than it should: the drawing has a gap in the line there. Undo, then color that part with the brush in Simple mode, it stays inside.
- A white speck stays after a fill: tap it again, or go over it with the brush.
